I loved FULL HOUSE as a kid and was a huge fan of Uncle Jesse. He was so cool with his rockstar/biker image. Not only was he cool but he was a great dad and husband. He just was pretty cool all around. When I first started watching the show, his name was Jesse Katsopolis, then one day it randomly changed to Cochran. And I haven't the faintest why.
I was talking the other day about this to a friend and she said, "maybe he changed names when he married becky?" It was a good question, but Becky's last name was "Donaldson".
So my question still remains, why did the producers or full house or warner brothers domestic television distribution feel the need to randomly change his name?
If anyone has a theory about his name change, I'd love to hear it!
Hey everyone! Take a look at my newest niece Brooklyn Grace Enyart! She was born last Tuesday weighing 7 lbs 11 ounces. Check out the a few of the newest pics!
Check out this awesome replica of Noah's Ark. It is exact to scale as the Bible Ark. Check out the pictures and info below!
"Working Replica of Noah's Ark Opened In SCHAGEN, Netherlands . The massive central door in the side of Noah's Ark was opened the first crowd of curious townsfolk to behold the wonder. Of course, it's only a replica of the biblical Ark , built by Dutch Creationist Johan Huibers as a testament to his faith in the literal truth of the Bible. The ark is 150 cubits long, 30 cubits high and 20 cubits wide. That's two-thirds the length of a football field and as high as a three-story house. Life-size models of giraffes, elephants, lions, crocodiles, zebras, bison and other animals greet visitors as they arrive in the main hold. A contractor by trade, Huibers built the ark of cedar and pine. Biblical Scholars debate exactly what the wood used by Noah would have been. Huibers did the work mostly with his own hands, using modern tools and with occasional help from his son Roy. Construction began in May 2005. On the uncovered top deck - not quite ready in time for the opening - will come a petting zoo, with baby lambs and chickens, and goats, and one camel. Visitors on the first day were stunned. 'It's past comprehension', said Mary Louise Starosciak, who happened to be bicycling by with her husband while on vacation when they saw the ark looming over the local landscape. 'I knew the story of Noah, but I had no idea the boat would have been so big.' There is enough space near the keel for a 50-seat film theater where kids can watch a video that tells the story of Noah and his ark. Huibers, a Christian man, said he hopes the project will renew interest in Christianity in the Netherlands, where church going has fallen dramatically in the past 50 years".
Hey guys! My friend Shannon just sent me this poem that really hits home and makes you think. It's written by a teenager with cancer. She was terminally ill in a New York Hospital when it was written....Check it out!
SLOW DANCE Have you ever watched kids On a merry-go-round? Or listened to the rain Slapping on the ground?
Ever followed a butterfly's20erratic flight? Or gazed at the sun into the fading night?
You better slow down.
Don't dance so fast. Time is short. The music won't last.
Do you run through each day On the fly?
When you ask How are you? Do you hear the reply?
When the day is done Do you lie in your bed With the next hundred chores Running through your head?
You'd better slow down Don't dance so fast. Time is short. The music won't last.
Ever told your child,
We'll do it tomorrow? And in your haste, Not see his sorrow?
Ever lost touch,Let a good friendship die Cause you never had time To call and say,'Hi'
You'd better slow down. Don't dance so fast. Time is short. The music won't last.
When you run so fast to get somewhere You miss half the fun of getting there. When you worry and hurry through your day, It is like an unopened gift.... Thrown away.
Life is not a race. Do take it slower Hear the music Before the song is over.
Hey guys! Here is my first game! In honor of TEAM KNIGHTS (for T-series), i decided to post it. It's kind of like guitar hero, except you use the arrows. And the arrows fly by really fast, so beware!
Last weekend, a bunch of 8th grade gals and their mamas and I went to the revolve tour in Ana"CRIME". It was an amazing time!!!! It was sort of like a conference/concert with AWESOME guest speakers like Chad Eastman and Jenna Lucado with guest bands/singers like Hawk Nelson, Natalie Grant and GROUP 1 (who I am obsessed with...it was my first time hearing them and I WANT TO GET THEIR CD!!!!)
Anyways, here is a compelling video of a 9 year old student (now he's 14) who was open to being used by God. This story was told at the end of revolve tour and was very inspiring. Not only did it speak to teens, but it spoke to the moms too! It sure puts the meaning of life into perspective!
In September 2007 Chinese government officials closed Alimujiang Yimiti’s business and accused him of using it as a cover up for “preaching Christianity among people of Uyghur ethnicity.” He was later arrested in January 2008 and accused of “subversion of the national government and endangering national security,” a crime punishable by death. Alimujiang, a former Muslim, became a Christian more than 10 years ago and has been an active Christian in the growing Uyghur church.
Please send a letter of encouragement and let Alimujiang know that you are praying for him and other persecuted believers in China. Let your friends know about the suffering Christians in China and encourage them to pray and write to him.
Your letters make a difference, sometimes resulting in shorter prison sentences. Write to Alimujiang today and let him know you are praying for him. To send a letter of encouragement go to www.prisoneralert.com
Tonight, I was reading a Book by Beth Moore called "Breaking Free" and she challenged her readers to meditate on Isaiah 61:1-4. It's a great verse. It reminded me of God's grace and purpose for our lives. to anyone reading this, I too want to encourage you to take time out of your day to read this and ask him to bring you back to his plan for your life. He truly is a God who restores lives. May His peace be with you today and may He refresh you with his word.
Isaiah 61 The Year of the LORD's Favor 1 The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, [a]
2 to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn,
3 and provide for those who grieve in Zion— to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor.
4 They will rebuild the ancient ruins and restore the places long devastated; they will renew the ruined cities that have been devastated for generations.
A few weeks ago, I heard from some friends about the dangers of ingesting chemicals transferred from plastic containers such as water bottles.
Most plastic containers are labelled on the bottom (inside the reclycing symbol) with a number from 1 to 7. The good numbers are 1, 2, 4 and 5. The bad numbers are 3, 6 and 7, which are apparently full of all kinds of nasty chemicals that can cause cancer and other serious health problems.
An online sources says, if you look at the bottom of a Naglene bottle, for instance, you’ll find it’s made from the number 7 type plastic which contains polycarbonate, one of those bad compounds. Check out these articles on other health related problems found in plastic containers.
Shelter needs remain critical in China's quake zone
Some 5 million are homeless following last week's devastating temblor; materials for temporary shelter urgently needed. (Last updated May 19)
Please note: If a sponsored child is directly affected by a crisis or disaster, it is World Vision's policy to notify that child's sponsor as soon as possible.
Home > About Us > Latest News > Shelter needs remain critical in China's quake zone A patient is evacuated from a hospital in Shaanxi province following the devastating earthquake. Photo: REUTERS/Ben Ruan (China) As China enters three days of national mourning for the now 32,000 confirmed dead following the May 12 quake, World Vision continues to distribute aid and survey the needs of devastated communities in Sichuan Province. Our 12 local staff members in Qingchuan County, who began responding almost immediately after the disaster, are finding that temporary shelter remains the most urgent necessity for survivors in hard-hit areas. Tents and shelter materials, mainly plastic sheets, are in greatest need.
"In Mianzhu, a hard-hit region, survivors are camping out on streets, and basic needs like food, tents, and water are seriously lacking," said Mei Mei Leung, World Vision's senior relief officer for China.
Relief team at work
In response, World Vision plans to bring in another 4,000 plastic sheets, 3,000 quilts, and 50 tents this week to assist affected communities. This is in addition to the 800 tents, 30,000 quilts, 464,100 kilograms of food, and 2,000 shelter tarpaulins we have already planned to provide to survivors. Distributions have already begun in Qingchuan County, where World Vision conducts a community development program.
World Vision's relief team has worked around the clock to conduct post-quake assessment and relief work in several quake-stricken areas. Staff are reporting that many villagers have lost all of their possessions and are grieving over the deaths of their loved ones.
"In Deyang City of Shifang County, many victims have lost one or more loved ones to this calamity and they are in deep grief," said Leung.
'It was a nightmare'
Leung and her team visited more than 1,000 survivors in Shifang County's Deyang City on May 16. They assessed the most urgent needs in the area and distributed child-friendly kits and disaster preparedness manuals to affected children.
Li Yao, 9, survived her school building's collapse after her teacher pushed her out from their third-story classroom. Only six other pupils from her class survived, and more than 200 of the 300 students in her primary school were killed in the quake. Li Yao and her family shared their story with World Vision staff at a government shelter in Shifang.
"It was a nightmare," said Li Yao's mother, who recounted how the family walked out of their devastated mountain village while shielding the little girl's eyes from the bodies lining the streets.
Addressing children's emotional and physical needs To address the unique needs of children orphaned or otherwise affected by the quake, World Vision plans to open three Child-Friendly Spaces in the coming days. Games and activities in a safe environment will help children regain a sense of normalcy after their difficult experiences.
World Vision also remains concerned about children's physical needs, especially in remote areas where aid has just begun to reach.
"Thousands of victims, including children, are still barely surviving in appalling conditions where food and water are scarcely provided," reports Kevin Chiu, chief executive officer of World Vision's Hong Kong office, who joined our China staff in visiting hard-hit areas this past weekend.
Chiu and the team went on to warn that safe drinking water and nutritious food must urgently reach the youngest survivors of this quake.
Relief distribution continues despite flooding scare
Meanwhile, World Vision staff in Qingchuan County had begun a quilt and tent distribution on May 17 when warnings came of the potential flooding from a local river. The staff stopped the distribution and evacuated the area, but after the flood warning was called off by the authorities, World Vision was able to continue distributing quilts and tents to families in Liangshui and Qiaozhuang Townships in the county.
World Vision plans to reach more than 123,000 survivors with relief and rehabilitation activities totaling about $2 million. Long-term rehabilitation activities will focus on shelter and school reconstruction.
Two ways you can help
>> Pray for children and families in China who have been affected by this deadly earthquake, and pray that aid agencies like World Vision would quickly acquire the resources they need to come to the assistance of those who have been left devastated by this disaster. >> Donate now to help provide emergency relief to survivors of the recent earthquake in China.
Today marks the 5th anniversary of Mr. Roger's death and was declared "Sweater Day" in honor of him. He would've been 80 years old today, March 20th. Mr. Roger's was notorious for his sweaters-in fact he had 40 different one's that his mother made for him. Growing up, Mr. Roger's was a popular icon in our house and his realness and genuiness on the television, made us feel he was a part of the family. Here are fun 20 reasons why PBS's Mr. Roger's was the BEST neighbor:
1. Mister Rogers was colorblind (red-green)
2. There has been a rumor floating around for years that Mr. Rogers was (either) a Navy Seal, or a Marine sniper, with dozens of confirmed kills. These rumors are 5. certainly amusing, but totally false
3. While a child, he spent most of his free time with his grandfather, who was a huge influence on him
4. Mr. Rogers first began to wear his sneakers because he found them quieter than his other work shoes when he was moving around the set during production.
5. Mr. Rogers was an ordained Presbyterian minister in 1962. He was charged with continuing his work with TV and children.
6. He first worked with NBC, but then decided that commercial television's reliance on advertisement and merchandising undermined its ability to benefit kids, so he quit.
7. The sweaters Mr. Roger wore on the show were hand knitted by his mother.
8. Mr. Rogers drove a used Chevy Impala. Towards the end of his career, his car was stolen from the studio parking lot. Word spread, and outrage swept the town. 48 hours later, the car was back in the spot where he had left it along with a note, “If we’d known it was yours, we never would have taken it!”
9. You can have a VCR thanks to Mr. Rogers. In contrast to most people in his industry, Mr. Rogers fought on BEHALF of VCR manufacturers in court-- arguing that he didn't object to families recording his show for later viewing at a more convenient time. The United States Supreme Court considered his testimony in its decision that the Betamax recorded did not infringe copyright (see below for a great quote from his testimony). The Home Recording Rights Coalition later stated that Rogers was "one of the most prominent witnesses on this issue."
10. When Mr. Rogers was at a speaking engagement, he would instruct the audience to remain silent for 60 seconds-- and to use that time of silence to remember those who helped them become who they are
11. Mr. Roger’s parents adopted an African American teenager named George. Rogers came to consider George his older brother, and George later became an instructor for the Tuskegee Airmen of World War II-- and also taught Rogers how to fly.
12. Mr. Rogers was awarded 40 honorary degrees
13.Mr. Rogers show has the distinction of being the longest running program on PBS; it ran for 998 episodes
14. He was a vegetarian, swam every morning, and never smoke nor drank
15. There is a $3 million dollar statue to Mr. Rogers being unveiled on Mr. Rogers Day "Sweater Day" on March, 20th, 2008 in Pittsburgh (he was from Latrobe, Pennsylvania).
16. He Made Thieves Think Twice According to a TV Guide piece on him, Fred Rogers drove a plain old Impala for years. One day, however, the car was stolen from the street near the TV station. When Rogers filed a police report, the story was picked up by every newspaper, radio and media outlet around town. Amazingly, within 48 hours the car was left in the exact spot where it was taken from, with an apology on the dashboard. It read, “If we’d known it was yours, we never would have taken it.”
17. He Watched His Figure to the Pound! In covering Rogers’ daily routine (waking up at 5; praying for a few hours for all of his friends and family; studying; writing, making calls and reaching out to every fan who took the time to write him; going for a morning swim; getting on a scale; then really starting his day), writer Tom Junod explained that Mr. Rogers weighed in at exactly 143 pounds every day for the last 30 years of his life. He didn’t smoke, didn’t drink, didn’t eat the flesh of any animals, and was extremely disciplined in his daily routine. And while I’m not sure if any of that was because he’d mostly grown up a chubby, single child, Junod points out that Rogers found beauty in the number 143. According to the piece, Rogers came “to see that number as a gift… because, as he says, “the number 143 means ‘I love you.’ It takes one letter to say ‘I’ and four letters to say ‘love’ and three letters to say ‘you.’ One hundred and forty-three.”
18. He Saved Both Public Television and the VCR Strange but true. When the government wanted to cut Public Television funds in 1969, the relatively unknown Mister Rogers went to Washington. Almost straight out of a Capra film, his 5-6 minute testimony on how TV had the potential to give kids hope and create more productive citizens was so simple but passionate that even the most gruff politicians were charmed. While the budget should have been cut, the funding instead jumped from $9 to $22 million. Rogers also spoke to Congress, and swayed senators into voting to allow VCR’s to record television shows from the home. It was a cantankerous debate at the time, but his argument was that recording a program like his allowed working parents to sit down with their children and watch shows as a family.
19. He Might Have Been the Most Tolerant American Ever Mister Rogers seems to have been almost exactly the same off-screen as he was onscreen. As an ordained Presbyterian minister, and a man of tremendous faith, Mister Rogers preached tolerance first. Whenever he was asked to castigate non-Christians or gays for their differing beliefs, he would instead face them and say, with sincerity, “God loves you just the way you are.” Often this provoked ire from fundamentalists.
20. He Was Genuinely Curious about Others Mister Rogers was known as one of the toughest interviews because he’d often befriend reporters, asking them tons of questions, taking pictures of them, compiling an album for them at the end of their time together, and calling them after to check in on them and hear about their families. He wasn’t concerned with himself, and genuinely loved hearing the life stories of others. Amazingly, it wasn’t just with reporters. Once, on a fancy trip up to a PBS exec’s house, he heard the limo driver was going to wait outside for 2 hours, so he insisted the driver come in and join them (which flustered the host). On the way back, Rogers sat up front, and when he learned that they were passing the driver’s home on the way, he asked if they could stop in to meet his family. According to the driver, it was one of the best nights of his life—the house supposedly lit up when Rogers arrived, and he played jazz piano and bantered with them late into the night. Further, like with the reporters, Rogers sent him notes and kept in touch with the driver for the rest of his life.

Stuck in 7th Grade Article By Allison Hibbard2/21/2008
Lately, I have been reminded—yet again—about how much life really doesn't change after seventh grade. You still have a goofy side. You still love to laugh with your friends Lately, I have been reminded—yet again—about how much life really doesn't change after seventh grade. You still judge others based on appearances. You still have to eat your vegetables. You still eat your vegetables out of guilt, not desire. You still have friends that are tried and true. You still have some acquaintances that will stay just that. You still hate being forced to exercise. You still have trouble mastering the "spiritual disciplines."You still have a workload that consists of mostly things you love and a few things you hate. You still have a "teacher" (or seven) in your life. You still have a deep hatred for changing your clothes in a public place (gym/fitting rooms). You still have the "butterflies" feeling in your stomach around the man/woman of your dreams (even if you have been married for 15 years). You still have moments of uncontrollable weakness, when tears are all that will come out, without any explanation. You still think things are funnier at 2a.m.You still give in to peer pressure. You still misspell words. You still choose to use a calculator instead of multiplying two numbers in your head. You still find a slight thrill in breaking a small rule. You still have an issue with ridiculous authority figures. ("Yard Duties"/ Ushers, Security Guards, "Rent a Cops") You still don't have enough money to do everything you want to do.You still have to go to bed at a reasonable time because you have to get up in the morning. You still have people you just "click" with. You still have people you just "clique" with. You still have the group that thinks they are better than you. Most of the time, you still feel like they are better than you.You still have to remind yourself, daily, to find your value in being God's child. It's funny; I operated under the assumption that life would be different, and somewhat easier, as I grew-up. From where I stand right now, it doesn't feel all that different. Maybe I'm not there yet. But maybe, when all is said and done, I'm okay with that.
